No, ChatGPT does not "Scare Google"

Hey Everyone,

I too am recovering from the ChatGPT hype bomb that OpenAI’s limited demo has created. There’s a lot of misinformation I’m seeing and one of the worst things is perhaps how ‘ChatGPT will threaten the future of search’.

While this may be true one day when Conversational AI is vastly improved, even Google cannot get this right, we are at least a decade from that period in 2022.

A good search engine is about real-time data and fact verification, among other things like freedom from Ads. If Microsoft internalizes chatGPT into Bing, I am not bullish the demo suffered too many A.I. alignment issues.

That does stop the idea that ChatGPT could disrupt search or Google, from going viral:

Google is essentially more advanced than OpenAI at its own game, it has LaMDA 2 among other things. ChatGPT is a fun demo, it is not a new paradigm. I think this was fairly expressed and hijacked by a Search startup Neeva recently.

Neeva’s founder seeing an opportunity and integrating LLMs anyways tweeted the following:
