Google announces Bard A.I. in response to ChatGPT

Hello Everyone,

It’s been a big week in A.I. news. The ecosystems of Conversational A.I. are really opening up. I recently covered Baidu’s Ernie, and now there’s the Q&A platform Quora who have opened up public access to its new AI chatbot app, Poe, which lets users ask questions and get answers from a range of AI chatbots.

But as I previously covered, the AnthropicAI investment by Google into Claude has now led to the long-awaited announcement of LaMDA based Apprentice Bard, now just called Bard.

  • Google has a February 8th, event that is likely a surprise reveal for many cool things Alphabet is building with A.I. tools, search, maps and so forth. I wrote about this event here.

  • You can access it at 8:30 EST time on Wednesday on YouTube:

The 40-minute event will be streamed on YouTube on February 8th at 8:30AM ET.

The way conversational AI could transform Search and how we manipulate data could change human productivity and could even replace some demand for certain jobs, while creating totally new ones.

For the likes of Google, Microsoft, Baidu, Quora and others, how people search the web could fundamentally change with all of these chatbots including ChatGPT, Claude, Bard, Sparrow, Ernie, Poe and others. There will be dozens more. Surrounded by an ecosystem of thousands of A.I. tools.

Google announced on February 6th, 2023 a new conversational AI technology it will open up to public testing called Bard.

Google promises to make their experimental conversational AI service, powered by LaMDA, available more widely in the coming weeks.

LaMDA stands for Language Model for Dialogue Applications, is a family of conversational neural language models developed by Google and have been in development for many years.

Google will open up Bard to “trusted testers” before making it more widely available to the public in the coming weeks, the company said in a blog post.
